The aim of BlindStairs is to connect professionals and companies from around the globe to assist them in conducting objective personnel selection processes. Key to this mission is our commitment to transparency regarding the data we collect about you, how it is used, and who it is shared with.

Introduction

We are an online platform for professionals and companies. People use our Services to find job opportunities or to have these opportunities find them. Our Privacy Policy applies to any Professional or Company. Registered individuals (“Professionals”) share their professional identity and find professional and business opportunities. Registered companies (“Companies”) share their job openings and find professionals for them. The content and data of some of our Services are available to individuals who are not registered (“Guests”).

Services

This Privacy Policy, which includes our Cookie Policy, applies to your use of our Services.

This Privacy Policy applies to blindstairs.com, the BlindStairs-branded apps, and other BlindStairs-related sites, apps, communications, and services (“Services”), including the Services offered off the site, but excluding the services offered under a different privacy policy.

Data Processing Responsibilities and Contractors

BlindStairs, S.L. will be the entity responsible for the personal data that you provide to our Services, or that are collected or processed by or for our Services, or in connection with them.

If you are a Visitor, Company, or Professional of our Services, any collection, use, and sharing of information regarding your personal data will be subject to this Privacy Policy and other documents referenced herein, as well as their updates.

Changes

The changes to the Privacy Policy apply to your use of our Services after the “effective date”.

BlindStairs (“we”) may amend this Privacy Policy, and if we introduce any significant changes, we will notify you to offer you the chance to review the changes before they become effective. If you disagree with any of the changes, you may close your account.

You acknowledge that your continued use of our Services, after posting or sending a notice about our changes to this Privacy Policy, implies that the collection, utilization, and sharing of your personal data are subject to this updated Privacy Policy, from its effective date.

1. THE DATA WE COLLECT

1.1 Data you provide
Registration

To create an account, you must provide us with data such as your name, your email address, and a password. If you subscribe to any of the payment plans, you will need to provide payment information (e.g., credit card) and billing information.

Profile

In your profile, you have different options you can include, such as your education, work experience, skills, your city or location, as well as your demographic data. It's not necessary to provide additional information on your profile; however, profile information helps you get more out of our Services, such as making it easier for hiring technicians and job opportunities to find you.


Publication and Uploading of Content

We collect your personal data when you provide, post, or upload it to our Services, such as when you fill out a form (e.g., with demographic data), respond to a survey or send a resume, or when you fill out a job application on our Services, however, the Company to whom you have sent the application, will NOT receive your personal data (Name, contact, gender, address, etc.).

1.2 Use of services

We record your visits and your use of our Services.

We record usage data when you visit or otherwise use our Services, including our websites, applications, and platform technology, such as when you view or click on content or ads (on our websites and apps, or off them), perform a search, install or apply for jobs. We use login records, device information, and Internet Protocol addresses (“IP”) to identify you and record your use on BlindStairs.

1.3 Cookies and Other Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (e.g., web beacons and ad tags) to collect information (e.g., device identifiers) to recognize you and/or your device or devices across different Services and devices.

1.4 Your Device and Location

When you visit or leave our Services (including some plugins, as well as our cookies or similar technologies on other websites), we receive the URL of both the site you have come from and the site you are going to, in addition to the time at which you made your visit. We also receive information about your network and device (e.g., IP address, proxy server, operating system, web browser and plugins, device identifier and features, cookie identifiers, Internet service provider or mobile network operator). If you use our Services from a mobile device, that device will send us your location data based on your phone settings.

For instance, we use this technology to ensure that communications between the Company and the Professional guarantee the concealment of personal data, in the case that they have not yet been requested, and to manage or block content that violates our Terms of Use.

Our Services are dynamic and we frequently introduce new features, which may require the collection of new information. If we collect significantly different personal data or greatly change the way we collect, use, or share your data, we will notify you and we may also modify this Privacy Policy.

2. How We Use Your Data

The way we use your personal data depends on whether you are a Professional or Company, the Services you use, and how you use those Services.

If you are a Professional, we use your personal data at our disposal in two ways:

  • Demographic data (optional) for statistical and academic purposes, with the help of automated systems so that they may be more relevant and useful.
  • The data you incorporate into the platform when creating your account or contained in your resume, such as contact data, are only used to provide it to the Companies that want to contact you or to which you have submitted your candidacy, and we will always request your authorization.

We do not associate demographic data with your candidacy in any case.

If you are a company, we use the data you provide about your company, as well as the job offer to show it to professionals who are looking for job opportunities.

Upon registering on our platform, we will collect data such as the company name, number of employees, industry sector, contact information, and any other relevant information for the posting of job offers.

The collected data are primarily used to:

  1. Facilitate the posting of job offers.
  2. Help professionals and job seekers find relevant opportunities.
  3. Optimize our recommendations and personalize the user experience.
  4. Continuously improve our services and develop new features.
2.1 Services
JOBS

Our Services allow you to find jobs, look for job opportunities, and allow them to find you. Both people looking for professionals (for a job or specific task) and those wanting to be hired can find your profile. We will use your data to recommend jobs to you and recommend you to personnel selection technicians. We may use automated systems to provide content and recommendations in order to make our Services more relevant to our Professionals, Visitors, and Companies. Keeping an updated profile with accurate data can help you achieve better opportunities through our Services.

Professionals

Our services allow you to find professionals, to cover your selection processes and to be found. Professionals can find your profile through the job offers you post on your channels as well as directly in our application. We may use automated systems to provide content and recommendations in order to make our Services more relevant to our Professionals, Visitors, and Companies. Keeping the company profile as well as job offers updated with accurate data can help you achieve better results through our Services.

2.2 Communications

We will contact you by email, through notices posted on BlindStairs websites or applications, messages in your BlindStairs mailbox, and through other means available through our Services, including text messages and push notifications. We will send you messages about the status of our Services, security, or other service-related issues. You can change your communication preferences at any time. Please note that you cannot opt-out of our service messages, including security and legal notices.

2.3 Marketing

In addition to advertising our Services, we send out invitations and communications promoting network growth, greater adherence, and a higher degree of engagement, as well as the development of our Services.

2.4 Service Development and Research
Service Development

We use data to conduct research and develop our Services to provide you and other Members with a more intuitive experience, increase the number of Members and interaction on our Services, and help professionals connect with each other and access economic opportunities.

OTHER RESEARCH

We seek to generate positive social impact by eliminating biases in personnel selection processes to promote the entry of more diverse profiles into companies. Therefore, we use voluntarily provided sociodemographic data for academic research that provides knowledge and scientific evidence to create awareness in this area. This research is conducted by the founding team of BlindStairs, so no third parties are involved, and we have controls designed to protect your privacy.

Surveys

We conduct the polls and surveys carried out through our Services. You are not obligated to respond to polls or surveys and have different options regarding the information you provide.

2.5 Customer Service

We use data (such as your communications) to investigate, respond to, and resolve complaints, as well as Service issues (e.g., bugs).

2.6 Data that does not identify you

We use your data to generate and share information that does not identify you. For example, we may use your data to generate statistics about our members, their profession or sector; to calculate ad impressions or clicks; or to publish detailed information about a Service's visitors or obtain detailed workforce information.

3.1 Our Services
Profile

Your profile (without personal data) is visible to companies posting job offers.

Company Accounts

Information about your company can be consulted by professionals looking for job opportunities within our platform, accessing as users or any person through the link to share such offer, the purpose of this mechanism is for the job offer to reach as many people as possible both inside and outside of BlindStairs.

3.2 Service Providers

We use third parties to help us provide our Services (e.g., maintenance, analysis, audits, payments, fraud detection, marketing, and development). These third parties will have limited access to your information to the extent necessary to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for other purposes.

4. Your Options and Obligations

4.1 Data Retention

We generally retain your personal data for as long as you keep your account open, or for the period necessary to provide you with our Services. This includes data you have provided to us or data generated or inferred from your use of the Services. Even if you only use our Services when looking for a new job every few years, we will retain your information and keep your profile open unless you close your account. In some cases, we choose to retain certain information (for example, information about the use of the Services) in a depersonalized or aggregated format.

4.2 Right to Access and Control Your Personal Data

You can access, amend, or delete your personal data.

We provide many choices to collect, use, and share your data, from deleting or correcting data you include in your profile.

Concerning your personal data at our disposal, you can:

  • Delete data: you can ask us to delete or remove all or some of your personal data (for example, if it is no longer necessary to provide you with Services).
  • Change or rectify data: you can edit some of your personal data through your account.
  • Limit or restrict data use: You can limit the use of your demographic data since it is entirely optional to share them with BlindStairs; you can also restrict the use of your data, as, when a company is interested in your profile, you can decide whether or not to share your contact data with it.
4.3 Account Closure

If you decide to close your BlindStairs account, your personal data will no longer be visible on our Services, usually within 24 hours. We typically delete information from closed accounts within 30 days of account closure, except in the cases mentioned below.

5. Other Important Information

5.1. Security

We implement security measures designed to protect your data, such as HTTPS. We periodically monitor our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks. However, we cannot guarantee the security of the information you send us. There is no guarantee that data cannot be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed if a breach occurs in any of our physical, technical, or managerial security measures.

5.2. Cross-border Data Transfers

We process data both within and outside the European Union and rely on legal mechanisms to legally transfer data between countries. The countries in which we process data may have different laws from those of your country, with the possibility that they do not offer as broad protection as the latter.

5.3 Legal Basis for Data Processing

We will only collect and process your personal data as far as the legal bases allow us. Legal bases include consent (where applicable), contract (if data processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you to provide you with the BlindStairs Services you have requested, for example)

Your consent is necessary for the processing of personal data, and you can withdraw or revoke it at any time.

At the moment, we do not share personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.
